Bride of Christ Placemats

My church is having a ladies' tea in May and they asked people to sign up to decorate one table with whatever theme they chose.  Since I am getting ready for my wedding, I have weddings on the brain.  So my table is going to have the theme "The Bride of Christ."  I will take some photos of the table when it is all decorated and put them up here, but in the meantime, I made placemats for the occassion.

• 10 sheets Whisper White 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock

I printed out the text.  Then I stamped 6 of the large flowers from the Vintage Vogue stamp set with the Versamark ink and applied the embossing powder and melted the powder.  Then I sponged them with the Crumb Cake ink.  I stamped 4 of the small flowers with the Crumb Cake, but to lighten them, I stamped on scrap paper and then onto the placemat.  Then I stamped the decorative element with Cherry Cobbler.

They look complex, but they really are not.  In fact, I was able to do 10 of them within about an hour and a half. 

I also took them to a local business and had them each laminated so they can be easily cleaned off and perhaps framed and hung on the wall later.  :-)

Wedding Book

I wanted to share my latest undertaking.  This is going to be a huge momento of our engagement and wedding.  My fiance (it will be officially official in May - that means I will have a ring and it will be posted on Facebook) and I decided that we wanted to do a photo guestbook.  However, I thought that the guestbooks that you can buy that are designed to hold photos were rather plain and quite pricey.  So I originally was just going to make a guestbook.  But as I was looking for ideas on making a guestbook, I found this idea for a flip flop book (she calls it a Gate Fold, but to me Flip Flop is more fitting) Gate (faux)ld Paper Bag Mini Album by Follow the Paper Trail and thought it would be an interesting way to do the guestbook.  After a while however, I got the idea that it would be so awesome to just have a book for our courtship and wedding and the first year of marriage.  So my small project has exploded, but still having tons of fun with it.  This book will be bound on both sides.  I am waiting to bind it until I have more of the pages done.

• 5 pieces Medium weight 12 x 12 chipboard (you don't have to start with 12 x 12 for all of them, but that is what I had)
• 1 sheet is 9 x 12 (back cover)
• 2 sheets 9 x 11 1/2 (section covers)
• 1 sheet is 9 x 8 1/4 (front left cover)
• 1 sheet is 9 x 4 1/2 (front right cover)
• 6 sheets 12 x 12 Elegant Eggplant cardstock
• 8 sheets 8 1/2 x 11 Elegant Eggplant cardstock
• 12 sheets 12 x 12 Whisper White cardstock
• 9 sheets 8 1/2 x 11 Whsiper White cardstock (just for covers and sections, not counting inside pages)

First you want to cover the back cover with the Elegant Eggplant cardstock.  Since the cardstock is the same width as the chipboard, I took the strip that I cut off the second sheet of cardstock and added it to one side so that the cardstock could be wrapped around.  I adhered the second sheet on the inside of the cover (this sheet is cut to 9 x 12).  Using my Bind-it-All (a present from my sweetheart), I punched 15 holes on each side.  

Note:  To get the holes to line up properly, you need to punch the holes on the left with the front toward you and for the holes on the right, punch them with the back toward you.

Cover all the remaining pieces of chipboard in a similar fashion.  For the front right cover, adhere the ribbon on the left (unpunched) edge before attaching the back cover.  Punch holes on the left side for the front left cover and one of the inner section covers.  Punch holes on the right side for the front right cover and the remaining inner section cover. 

Next cut the 12 x 12 sheets of whisper white down to 9 x 12 and adhere two sheets together for added thickness.  Do this with all of the sheets of whisper white.  Punch half for the right side and half for the left side.

I inked all of the pieces front and back along the edge with the decorative element from the Vintage Vogue stamp set.  I inked the Elegant Eggplant paper with white and the Whisper White paper with the Elegant Eggplant.

I cut a 5" heart on my cricut using Sweethearts and also the blackout.  I ran the blackout (upside down) through my large Xyron Create-a-Sticker and then pealed it off and put the cutout on top of this and then sprinkled glitter on the remaining adhesive.  Using Dimensionals I adhered this so the center of the heart is hanging over.  (I put the dimensionals about 3/4 of an inch from the center of the heart to allow for the ribbon to fit perfectly under the heart.)

I printed all of my sentiments and trimmed them down.  I cut a piece of Elegant Eggplant cardstock 1/2 an inch bigger and then punched two opposite corners with the Trumpet Flower corner adorner punch.  I cut a piece of whisper white 1" bigger and inked around the edges with Elegant Eggplant and then adhered the pieces together.  I did this with all of the "sentiments" that were going on the Elegant Eggplant cardstock.  For the "sentiments" going on the Whisper White cardstock, I skipped the second mat.  I then adhered each one to the Section covers.

Each of the pages that will go into the book will be "flip flopped".

You're My Pot o' Gold

I made this card for my boyfriend for St. Patrick's Day.  It turned out super cute.  :-)  I was having trouble uploading the inside of the card, but it says "My Pot o' Gold" and has two shamrocks.

Key to My Heart

This one was super simple.  I think I am getting stuck in a rut of just doing flat cards!

Birthday Honeydew List

I am really happy with how this card turned out.  :-)

I cut the melon slice from certainly celery at a height of 1.5 & 0.5.  I then cut the shift for the melon slice from white at the same sizes.  The white cardstock was heavily sponged and the edge of the certainly celery was also sponged (in fact, all of the layers of everything were sponged for this card).  I adhered the computer generated sentiments to a piece of certainly celery cardstock.  I then adhered these to the card base.  I added dimensionals to both of the melon pieces and then adhered them to the card base.

Very simple, but so cute!!

Thanks for Ministering sunset shadowbox card

I was asked to make some thank you cards for some women who will be ministering in May to our ladies fellowship group.  I was asked to try to make them Wyoming-esque.  So this is one of the ideas I had.  It is a combination of two different techniques that I have seen.  The first is called a shadowbox card and I have posted instrcutions on how to make this type of card.  Click on the shadowbox label in the list and it will give you the post with the instructions.  The second technique is to create a sunset effect.

Supplies:

• Chocolate chip cardstock (for base)
• 4 x 6 glossy photo paper
• Black cardstock
• White circle of cardstock
• So Saffron classic ink
• Pumpkin stayz-on ink
• Cherry cobbler classic ink
• Chocolate chip classic ink
• Raffia
• Modern label punch
• Computer generated sentiment
• Dimensional

I prepared the base of the card (directions are in another post with the label shadowbox) and set these pieces aside.

To do the sunset effect, I sponged so saffron ink over the entire area of the glossy photo paper.  I then took the circle punchout and taped it to the glossy photo paper to mask off this area.  Using a brayer, I covered the entire surface with the pumpkin stayz-on ink.  Next I heavily sponged the sides with the cherry cobbler, making sure to get the ink also on the top of the card.  Finally, I lightly sponged just the sides of the photo paper with the chocolate chip ink.  I let this dry for a few minutes and removed the masking.  I adhered the mountains to this and trimmed the sides.  I then adhered this to the base of the card and put the base together.  I added just a little bit of raffia to the sides and added the computer generated sentiment with a dimensional.

Nest in a Tree card

This card was inspired by Jeannie Phillips on the Cricut messageboards about a year ago.  This is the second card I've made for my "tweetheart."

• Always Artichoke cardstock
• Chocolate Chip cardstock
• Bashful Blue cardstock
• Cherry Cobbler cardstock
• light blue DCWV cardstock
• 5 x 7 card base
• Always Artichoke classic stamp pad
• Dimensionals
• Mini Glue Dots

I cut the tree out of the chocolate chip cardstock (I believe at 5.5" high) and cut two of the shift feature for the tree at the same size out of always atrichoke (one of the trees, I cut a hole in the center using a circle from George).  I adhered one of the trees to the base and then used dimensionals to adhere the second one.  I inked around the edges of the tree with the always artichoke ink.  I added the leaves around the tree with mini glue dots.  I cut the birds out of bashful blue.  I just colored the hat with a black pen.  I cut the two hearts out of cherry cobbler and the nest out of crumb cake.  I adhered the birds inside the circle with a dimensional.

Very simple card, but I love how it turned out.  :-)
